Carmean & Christie Article on E-Portfolios
Here, here, well said and don't we teachers need a new way or an updated way to show our wares? Even though we are digital immagrants can't we learn the new language? Wil we still be understood with our heavy "accented" presentations? Slowly we will move away from the ubiqutous powerpoint and move into the podcast, vodcast,or streaming video....
I can't wait, no, I must set the pace or the tone with staff and district and up the ante in the Career Ladder field. Hmmmm, maybe that is my calling with my doctorate? We will see.
The Professional Portfolio
Great "ammunition" to go on my hunt of improving the career ladder process and bringing it into the 20th century.
Preparing a Teaching Portfolio
Sounds more like an evaluation document than showing what the teacher has accomplished.

Interesting comment on career ladder...into the 20th century. Taking that idea though-there are lots of ways to use portfolios, and it would seem to make sense that at least part, if not all, of our evaluation by admin be done through the creation of a portfolio. Video/audio recordings of lessons, student projects, student feedback...does sound like a good doctorate possibility...hmmm
Out with the old and in with the new! Electronic Portfolios are here to stay and it is our job to start implementing them with our students and our own documentation to set the standards. We know that our students learn through visual aids and hands on experience...I think our peers (although they may be intimidated at first) will evantually jump on the bandwagon and start implementing technology in a more hands on and engaging manner. Someone has to be the example...why not us??
Carol--what a great post. I agree! We may be strangers in a strange land, but we need to be the ones to do as you say, and learn the language. Good luck to you with your doctorate--can't wait to see the path you forge!
